Ambrolinevitus was named by Syssoiev (1958) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-u O u Sepkoski's reference number: 1,1006].

It was assigned to Sulcavitidae by Fisher (1962); to Hyolithida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hyolitha by Bambach et al. (2007).
