Cyrtolites atlantoides was named by Mathews (1894) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Cambrian; New Brunswick.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Pelagiella.
It was recombined as Pelagiella atlantoides by Matthew (1895), Runnegar (1981), Brock and Cooper (1993), Landing et al. (2002), Kouchinsky et al. (2011), Wagner (2023), Oh et al. (2025).
