Taxonomy
Helictostylus girtyi was named by Knight (1934). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Fredonia, Olathe Limestone Member, which is in a Missourian carbonate limestone in the Stanton Formation of Kansas.
It was recombined as Strophostylus girtyi by Yochelson and Saunders (1967), Kues (1984), Kues and Batten (2001), Wagner (2023).
