Maclurea cuneata was named by Whitfield (1878). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Maclurina cuneata by Ulrich and Scofield (1897), Schuchert (1900), Hussey (1928), Roy (1941); it was recombined as Maclurites cuneata by Banks and Johnson (1957), Rohr (1980), Wagner (2023).
