Taxonomy
Platyceras primaevum was named by Billings (1872). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Archaeospira primaevum by Landing et al. (1987); it was recombined as Pelagiella primaeva by Lochman (1956), Landing and Bartowski (1996), Landing et al. (2002), Wagner (2023).
