Taxonomy
Pleurotomaria hortensia was named by Billings (1865). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Raphistoma hortensia by Whitfield (1890); it was recombined as Eccyliopterus hortensia by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); it was recombined as Raphistomina hortensia by Rohr et al. (2004), Wagner (2023).
