Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
R. L. Batten 1995Rotelliform shells with a massive umbilical callus. Very low-spired shells with whorls embracing on upper whorl surface. Upper whorl face gently rounded. Outer whorl face slightly flattened with illdefined shoulder and basal angulation that marks low periphery. Base is flatly rounded. Early whorls are phaneromphalus, adults are cryptomphalus. Columellar lip begins to swell at fourth whorl to form a callus, by adult whorl callus has expanded to umbilical boss and is most prominent feature of shell; columellar fold low on columellar lip.
B. S. Kues et al. 2002The shell is very low spired and discoidal in shape and lacks ornamentation, and the aperture is large and subcircular. A prominent callus plugs the umbilicus, a distinctive feature of Anomphalus verruculiferus, which is common in the Desmoinesian of north-central New Mexico (Kues and Batten, 2001).
