Strophostylus proeva was named by Perner (1903). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lochkov, Lochkov Limestone, which is in a Lochkovian carbonate limestone in the Lochkov Formation of the Czech Republic.
It was recombined as Praenatica proeva by Perner (1907), Wagner (2023).
