Taxonomy
Naticopsis depressus was named by Winchell (1863). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Prospect Hill, bluff above river south of Burlington, which is in a Famennian marine sandstone in the English River Formation of Iowa.
It was corrected as Naticopsis depressa by Keyes (1889), Weller (1900), Yochelson and Saunders (1967), Wagner (2023).
