It was replaced with Eupodophis by Rage and Escuillié (2001).

It was assigned to Ophidia by Rage and Escuillié (2000); and to Macrostomata by Rieppel et al. (2003).

J.-C. Rage and F. Escuillié 2000"snake with short but well-developed hindlimbs. Skull macrostomatan. Coronoid high. Body compressed laterally. Tail very short and paddle-like. Hindlimbs located close to the posterior extremity. Most vertebrae and ribs pachyostotic. Chevron bones articulated to caudal vertebrae. Differs from Pachyrhachis by (i) its triangular and more pointed skull (maxilla and dentary hardly curved medially), (ii) quadrate non-expanded anteroposteriorly, (iii) the presence on the neural arch of a sharply outlined protuberance on either side of the neural spine, and (iv) bases of teeth non-fluted (pg. 514)."
