Technophorus was named by Miller (1889) [Sepkoski's age data: O Trem-l S Ldov-u Sepkoski's reference number: 542,543]. It is not extant. Its type is Technophorus faberi.
It was assigned to Ribeirioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Technophoridae by Pojeta and Runnegar (1976), Bouchet et al. (2010).
