Pseudobigalea was named by Hoare et al. (1982) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc-u Sepkoski's reference number: 282]. It is not extant. Its type is Pseudobigalea crista. It is the type genus of Pseudobigaleaidae.
It was assigned to Hippocardiidae by Hoare et al. (1982); to Pseudobigaleaidae by Hoare et al. (2002); to Conocardioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pseudobigaleainae by Rogalla and Amler (2006).
