Fustiaria was named by Stoliczka (1868) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u R]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Dentalium (Fustiaria) by Cossmann (1915).

It was assigned to Dentalium by Cossmann (1915); to Scaphopoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Fustiariidae by Wells and Houston (2001) and Reynolds and Steiner (2008).
