Seretites was named by Ljaschenko (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: D Sieg D Fras-l Sepkoski's reference number: 758,1066]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Tentaculitidae by Farsan (1994); and to Tentaculitida by Sepkoski (2002).
