Taxonomy
Uzita chowanensis was named by Gardner (1943) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Pliocene; Virginia-North Carolina.]. Its type specimen is USNM 325405, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Nassarius chowanensis by Ward and Blackwelder (1987).
