Taxonomy
Aspideretes allani was named by Gilmore (1923). Its type specimen is UALVP 01, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sand Creek (200 ft level) [UA], which is in a Campanian terrestrial horizon in Canada.
It was recombined as Aspideretoides allani by Gilmore (1923), Gardner et al. (1995); it was recombined as Eugenechelys allani by Chkhikvadze (2000); it was recombined as Trionyx allani by Vitek and Joyce (2015).
