Taxonomy
Isospira was named by Koken (1897) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-u O Ashg Sepkoski's reference number: 615]. It is the type genus of Isospiridae.
It was assigned to Bellerophontacea by Knight et al. (1960); to Bellerophontida by Sepkoski (2002); to Isospiridae by Wängberg-Eriksson (1964) and Bouchet et al. (2005); and to Cyrtonellidae by Wagner (2023).
