Bitrigonocardia diptera

Taxonomy
Pleurorhynchus diptera was named by Salter (1851). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Chair of Kildare, eastern Ireland, which is in a Hirnantian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks/mudstone in the Kildare Limestone Formation of Ireland.

It was recombined as Conocardium dipterum by Barrande (1881); it was recombined as Conocardium dipterus by Hind (1910); it was recombined as Hippocardia diptera by Pojeta and Runnegar (1976); it was recombined as Bitrigonocardia diptera by Rogalla and Amler (2006).
