Nautilus balcombensis was named by Chapman (1915) [TYPE LOCALITY: Balcombe Bay, Australia (Miocene)]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Balcombe Bay (Cudmore collection), which is in a Langhian offshore claystone in the Fyansford Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Eutrephoceras balcombensis by Kummel (1956).
