Taxonomy
Leptograptus antiquus was named by Hall (1899).

It was recombined as Bryograptus antiquus by Benson and Keble (1935); it was recombined as Kiaerograptus antiquus by Cooper and Stewart (1979); it was recombined as Adelograptus antiquus by Bulman (1941), Cooper (1979), Jackson and Lenz (2003).
