Lyria acuticostulata was named by Darragh (1989) [TYPE LOCALITY: Shore Platform, FOssil Beach, Blacombe Bay, 3 km S of Mornington (Western Port), Balcombian (Middle Miocene)]. Its type specimen is P31145 and is not a trace fossil.
