Taxonomy
Anomia striatula was named by Oppel (1856) [TYPE LOCALITY: Waikato South Head, Port Waikato (Ohauan: Tithonian). TYPE REPOSITORY: Natural History Museum, Vienna]. Its type specimen is shell and is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Placunopsis striatula by Gahr (2002), Damborenea (2002).
