Aldebarania arenitea
Taxonomy
Aldebarania arenitea was named by Blake and Sturgeon (1995). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Holotype USNM 476526, Paratypes USNM 481615-481617. Its type locality is Asteroidea, Peedee fm., Martin Marieta Quarry, Rocky Point, which is in a Maastrichtian foreshore sandstone in the Peedee Formation of North Carolina. It is the type species of Aldebarania.
