Taxonomy
Monotis (Eomonotis) diptonensis was named by Grant-Mackie (1980) [TYPE LOCALITY: Whiskey Creek, Southland, New Zealand (Warepan=Norian). TYPE REPOSITORY: University of Auckland, Geology Dept.]. Its type specimen is L2738 and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Whiskey Creek S168/f700, which is in a Triassic marine sandstone in New Zealand.
