Monotis (Eomonotis) kiritihereensis was named by Grant-Mackie (1980) [TYPE LOCALITY: Kiritihere, Waikato, New Zealand (Warepan=Norian). TYPE REPOSITORY: University of Auckland, Geology Dept.]. Its type specimen is L2740 and is not a trace fossil.
