Prisconatica hesperia was named by Squires and Saul (2004) [TYPE LOCALITY: GSC Loc. 103581, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, Halam Fm (Late Santonian-Early Campanian). TYPE REPOSITORY: Royal British Columbia Museum (RBCM).]. Its type specimen is RBCM.EH2003.003.0001 and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is GSC 103851, Lower shale quarry site, Doumont Road , which is in a Campanian marine shale in the Haslam Formation of Canada.
