It was assigned to Hexactinellida by Henningsmoen (1952); to Coeloscleritophora by Brock and Cooper (1993), Landing and Bartowski (1996), Bengtson and Hou (2001); and to Chancelloriida by Skovsted (2006), Parkhaev and Demidenko (2010), Kouchinsky et al. (2011), Kouchinsky et al. (2017).
