Nuculana concava was named by Bronn (1831) [TYPE LOCALITY: Italy (Pliocene). HISTORY: Type species by subsequent designation of Jupiteria by Dall 1893 [Coan et al. 2000].]. It is extant. It is the type species of Jupiteria.
