Taxonomy
Nucula arctica was named by Gray (1824) [HISTORY: Type species by original designation of Portlandia Mörch 1857 [Coan et al. 2000].]. It is extant. It is the type species of Yoldia.

It was recombined as Yoldia arctica by Möller (1842), Lintz (1958); it was recombined as Portlandia arctica by Mörch (1857), Hendy et al. (2008).

Synonyms
  • Nucula portlandica was named by Reeve (1855) [HISTORY: Synonym of N. arctica J.E. Gray 1824 [Coan et al. 2000].]. It is extant.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Nucula arctica by Coan et al. (2000).
