Taxonomy
Oniscia domingensis was named by Sowerby (1850) [TYPE LOCALITY: TU 1293, Gurabo Fm, Rio Mao, Dominican Republic. TYPE REPOSITORY: BMNH (Lectotype)]. Its type specimen is BMNH G 83 846, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Morum domingensis by Gabb (1873); it was recombined as Morum domingense by Dall (1915), Maury (1917), Vaughn et al. (1921), Pilsbry (1922), Ramírez (1956), Woodring (1959) and Pflug (1961); it was recombined as Morum (Oniscidia) domingense by Landau (1996), Raymond (1997) and Vokes (1998).
