Taxonomy
Uber esdailei was named by Marwick (1924) [TYPE LOCALITY: Lorne, N.E. Otago, South Island, New Zeland (Kaiatan = Priabonian). TYPE REPOSITORY: GSNZ (now GNS Science, Lower Hutt, New Zealand).].

It was recombined as Polinices (Polinella) esdailei by Fleming (1966), Beu et al. (1990).
