Taxonomy
Ammonites serus was named by Oppel (1865).

It was recombined as Euphylloceras serum by Drushchitza and Kudryavsteva (1960); it was recombined as Phylloceras (Phylloceras) serum by Wiedmann and Dieni (1968), Kennedy and Klinger (1977); it was recombined as Phylloceras serum by Zittel (1868), Collignon (1962), Zeiss et al. (1994).
