Taxonomy
Hemizyga (Hyphantozyga) matanensis was named by Pan and Yu (1993). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Matan M23, Heshan, which is in a Wuchiapingian carbonate limestone in the Heshan Formation of China.
It was recombined as Ploceozyga (Hyphantozyga) matanensis by Pan and Erwin (2002).
