Ficus (Diconoficus) posadasensis was named by Chiesa et al. (1995) [TYPE LOCALITY: Puesto Gonzalez, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina; El Chacay Fm (Eocene).].

It was recombined as Ficus posadasensis by Squires (2014).
