Pseudotominae was named by Bellardi (1875).

It was synonymized subjectively with Borsoniidae by Bouchet et al. (2011).

It was assigned to Turridae by Beu et al. (1990), Stilwell et al. (2004); and to Conidae by Beu (2011).
