Fraipontia bella
Taxonomy
Conocardium bellum was named by Cooper and Cloud (1938). Its type specimen is USNM 95192a, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Salt Spring Hollow, about two miles north of the hollow south of Kritesville, which is in a Givetian carbonate limestone in the Little Cedar Formation of Illinois.
It was recombined as Hippocardia bella by Pojeta and Runnegar (1976), Hoare (1989); it was recombined as Fraipontia bella by Wagner (2023).
