Palaeoneilo ogachiensis was named by Hayasaka (1924) [Type. —Syntypes (IGPS, not registered, two specimens) from the Toyoma Formation at Myojinyama, Ogachi-cho, Monoo-gun, Miyagi Prefecture. Age and distribution. —Upper Permian (Tartarian). Known only from the type locality.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Myojinyama, Ogachi-cho, Monoo-gun, Miyagi Prefecture, which is in a Lopingian marine horizon in the Toyoma Formation of Japan.
