Taxonomy
Placunanomia hannibali was named by Jordan and Hertlein (1926) [TYPE LOCALITY: Baja California, Mexico; Almejas Fm (Pliocene).]. Its type specimen is CAS 2110, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is C.A.S. Loc. 945, Turtle Bay, which is in a Pliocene marine sandstone in Mexico.
