Taxonomy
Turritella tophina was named by Marwick (1926). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lorne, which is in a Kaiatan marine tuff in the Waiareka tuff Formation of New Zealand.

It was recombined as Spirocolpus tophina by Marwick (1929).
