Captorhinus aguti
Taxonomy
Ectocynodon aguti was named by Cope (1882). Its type specimen is AMNH 4333, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Coffee Creek, 34 (Arroyo Formation), which is in a Kungurian terrestrial claystone/sandstone in the Arroyo Formation of Texas.
It was recombined as Pariotichus aguti by Cope (1896), Hay (1902); it was recombined as Captorhinus aguti by Case (1911), Hay (1930), Seltin (1959), Fox and Bowman (1966), Baird and Carroll (1967), Daly (1973), Modesto (1998).
