Taxonomy
Lithodomus niger was named by d'Orbigny (1845) [DISTRIBUTION: ?Oligocene-Recent; Caribbean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Lithophaga (Lithophaga) nigra by Woodring (1982); it was recombined as Lithophaga nigra by Cooke (1919), Richards et al. (1969), De Buisonjé (1974) and Rosenberg (2005).
