Taxonomy
Mytilus recurvus was named by Rafinesque (1820) [DISTRIBUTION: Cape Cod-West Indies (Recent); Massachusetts-North Carolina (Pleistocene).]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Brachidontes recurvus by Gardner (1943), Richards (1962); it was recombined as Ischadium recurvum by Rosenberg (2005).
