Taxonomy
Scissurella was named by d'Orbigny (1824) [Sepkoski's age data: K Maes-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 1008]. It is extant. Its type is Scissurella costata.

It was assigned to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Scissurellinae by Squires and Goedert (1996), Lozouet et al. (2001), Bouchet et al. (2005); and to Scissurellidae by Ladd (1966), Ladd (1972), Ladd (1982), Wilson (1993), Pacaud and Le Renard (1995), Geiger (2006), Schnetler et al. (2024).
