Baculogypsina was named by Sacco (1893) [Sepkoski's age data: R]. It is extant. It was considered monophyletic by Holzmann and Pawlowski (2017).

It was assigned to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Calcarinidae by Cushman (1927), Holzmann and Pawlowski (2017).
