Aliculastrum was named by Pilsbry (1896) [Sepkoski's age data: T Than R Sepkoski's reference number: 614]. It is extant. Its type is Bulla cylindrica.

It was reranked as Atys (Aliculastrum) by Woodring (1928), Gardner (1948), Olsson and Harbison (1953), MacNeil (1960), Todd (2001).

It was assigned to Atyidae by Rippingale and McMichael (1961); to Atys by Woodring (1928), Gardner (1948), Olsson and Harbison (1953), MacNeil (1960), Todd (2001); to Cephalaspida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Atydinae by Harzhauser et al. (2009).
