Actaeon (Rictaxis) fusulus was named by Dall (1896) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Florida.]. Its type specimen is USNM 113863, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Actaeon fusulus by Dall (1903); it was recombined as Acteon fusulus by Gardner (1947); it was recombined as Rictaxis fusulus by Hendy et al. (2008).
