Taxonomy
Pecten (Pecten) raveneli was named by Dall (1898) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Pliocene; Atlantic Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is USNM 107750, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Pecten raveneli by Johnson (1934), DuBar (1958), De Buisonjé (1974); it was recombined as Pecten (Euvola) raveneli by Mansfield (1936), Gardner (1943); it was recombined as Pecten (Oppenheimopecten) raveneli by Woodring (1982); it was recombined as Euvola raveneli by Hendy et al. (2008).
