Amphitomaria obscurecostata was named by Nützel and Erwin (2004) [Amphitomaria? obscurecostataIt is figured and listed, but I cannot find a description anywhere in the paper!]. Its type specimen is AMNH 46448, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Lewiston locality, which is in a Sevatian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Martin Bridge Limestone Formation of Idaho.
