Colposigma plebeia was named by Marwick (1960) [DISTRIBUTION: Paleocene; New Zealand.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is S118/f539, which is in a Lutetian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone in the Broken River Formation of New Zealand.
