Taxonomy
Asturiaspongia aqualiforma was named by Garcia-Bellido and Rigby (2004). It is not extant. Its type locality is Emsian fauna from Aguion Fm, Arnao Beach, Asturias, which is in an Emsian reef, buildup or bioherm grainstone in the Aguion Formation of Spain. It is the type species of Asturiaspongia.
